HBO has finally confirmed that the last season of Game Of Thrones

Although it had been thought the series would take a year off from the airwaves this year, it hadn’t officially been confirmed by the network. 
However they’ve now officially announced that it’ll be 2019 for the eighth and final season, which is only six episodes long.

They also confirmed that David Benioff and DB Weiss will be among directors for the forthcoming series, along with David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik. Season 8 writers, meanwhile, will be Benioff, Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.

While we will have to wait over a year to see how it all ends, one of the show’s stars has already teased the prospect of a ‘satisfying’ ending.

Ben Crompton, who plays Night’s Watch brother Eddison Tollett in the HBO series, is currently filming the eighth season and revealed how there’s still a fair amount of shooting left on the project.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Ben said: ‘We’re currently filming. I think the shoot goes on probably till next year. ‘Even though there’s only six episodes, there’s a lot to shoot because it’s the last one. We’re going out with a bang.’
